Educational Programs and Curriculum
Our Grade Groups are divided into four academic phases:
- Phase 1: KG1 and KG2
- Phase 2: Lower Elementary Grades 1-3
- Phase 3: Upper Elementary Grades 4-5
- Phase 4: Middle School Grade 6
Within our curriculum, we have a set of skills and standards that we ideally want our students to attain at the end of every phase in our school. The implementation of modern, skills-based methods of teaching and learning is always encouraged, and students become creative, critical thinkers as a result.
The Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies program uses the curriculum set out by the Ministry of Education, and the English, Science and Math program is based on an international American curriculum. The Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) series is used for English, Science, and Math In the Elementary phase; and in the Middle school, the Holt and McDougall Littell series is used for all three subject areas.
Baseline assessments are conducted at the start of every academic year. These assessments provide the staff with a useful picture of what a child knows or can do; as well as identifying possible gaps in their learning. This evidence is used to design subsequent teaching and learning activities for the English and Arabic Fast Track programs.
Security / Maintenance
A security officer is employed to ensure that both the students and staff feel safe and secure within the school environment. The maintenance of the building is the responsibility of the head custodian with the help of the cleaning team. The maintenance and cleaning teams ensure that the building, grounds and equipment are cleaned and inspected on a daily basis.
Nurse and Clinic
Our school clinic is staffed during school hours with a registered nurse. The school nurse manages school emergencies and acute illnesses and also supports student success by providing health care through assessment, involvement, and follow-up for all children within the school setting.
Snacks
The school encourages students to bring a healthy snack for breakfast and lunch every day. Suggestions include fresh fruit, crunchy vegetables and a combination of protein, dairy and carbohydrate foods. Children are more alert and focused when they are fueled with healthy food. Our on-site tuck shop sells light snacks and drinks during the school breaks.
Breaks
It is our belief that regular breaks increase productivity and creativity. Working for long stretches without a break leads to stress and exhaustion. All our students enjoy two breaks during the school day.
Building and Facilities
Our building consists of
Twenty Class rooms(K-6)
All of our classrooms are equipped with projectors to assist with the presentation of material during lessons. Each class in the school has a computer with internet access to assist teachers in making lessons more interactive
Art Room
Our art room provides a safe space for students to explore their talents and build their confidence.
Music Room
In our music room, students learn to appreciate music; this appreciation supports brain function and memory in academic subjects.
Science Room
All practical and some theory lessons for science are conducted in the science room.
Computer Lab
Our computer lab serves as the center for teaching computer use to all classes; this is done by a specialist computer teacher.
School Library
Our school library offers a quiet area for our students to study, and encourage students to read.
Playground/ Sports Field
We believe that play is crucial in a child’s development; moreover, active play during breaks and lunchtimes help children’s mental health.
Clinic
The school includes a fully equipped clinic, featuring all the necessary equipment and medication for students. We are staffed with a full-time nurse who is qualified to administer any first aid treatment necessary. If a more serious situation arises at school, the student will be taken to the nearest health center, and parents will be informed immediately.
